Royal Botanical GardensBONSAI: AN INTRODUCTION Wednesday, September 22; 7 to 10 p.m. at RBG Centre. Members: $30; Non-members: $35 Mike McCallion demonstrates the techniques in creating bonsai. The art of growing and styling plant material is quickly expanding beyond its Asian roots. Once practiced only by skilled masters with patient discipline, bonsai is an activity that can be enjoyed at any age with any level of skill. With a few key horticultural techniques and some basic design concepts, these living sculptures can be created from many of the plants we find in today’s nurseries, including hardy, outdoor specimens. ICHTHYS Theatre ProductionsNOTICE OF AUDITIONS ICHTHYS Theatre is holding auditions for its much-anticipated remount of S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders. Auditions are Sept 11th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, and MUST be booked in advance by emailing Lorna Stratton at ichthys@sympatico.ca. Please do not leave a phone message to book an audition. We will also need a very competent stage manager, a light and sound tech, and several general crew.
